  • The American Journal of Preventive Medicine published a study which identified clinical preventive services for adolescents that did not have a strong evidence base and identified research gaps and opportunities.   • State Investment in STD Prevention - The American Social Health Association (ASHA) examined state-level funding for STD prevention and presents the results and policy implications in a number of easily-accessible profiles on its Web site.
  • A supplement to Sexually Transmitted Diseases (February 2009) was devoted to responding to the burden of STD, HIV, and viral hepatitis in correctional populations.
  • A supplement to Public Health Reports (November) published a collection of papers describing various OASIS-related activities to improve the surveillance of STDs.
  • New provisional ACIP guidance on use of the quadrivalent HPV vaccine in males and use of the newly licensed bivalent vaccine in females.
  • The 2006 NCHHSTP Disease Profile includes a review of HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, STD, and TB surveillance data with a special focus on African American men to illustrate how these diseases and the factors that influence them may overlap and result in excess disease burden among certain populations.
  • A special issue of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (December 2008) published background papers from the 2007 Consultation to Address STD Disparities in African American Communities.
  • A special issue of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (November 2008) published background papers from CDC’s 2007 consultation on male Chlamydia screening.
  • A special issue of Sexually Transmitted Infections (October 2008) focused on the importance of addressing efficacy, effectiveness, and population impact as critical elements of STD prevention.
